ARTICLE I - NAME 
The name of this organization shall be the Stevens Family Reunion – Composed of 2 Committees (“Northern Committee” and “Southern Committee” (hereinafter referred to as "Their Perspective Committee").
ARTICLE II - PURPOSE 
To promote family unity and continuing fellowship of all Stevens and extended family through family reunions and related activities; to create a supportive atmosphere for members who strive for excellence through educational achievements and economic advancements and other endeavors. Publish and distribute periodic newsletters or other material of interest to the Stevens family. To foster continuing research and publish research papers documenting the history of the Stevens family, from its earliest origins to present generations.
ARTICLE III - MEMBERSHIP 
Membership in Their Perspective Committee shall be open to all persons interested in or related to the Stevens family, including all variant spellings of the name throughout the world.
ARTICLE IV - OFFICERS 
The officers of Their Perspective Committee shall be a President; a Vice-President; a Secretary; Assistant Secretary; Treasurer; Assistant Treasurer; Senior Advisor; Spiritual Advisor; Youth President; Historian/Genealogist; and an Editor-- all elected by the general membership majority vote. The Officers will be known as The Executive Committee. The Executive Committee will always consist of both youth and adult members of voting age.
 
 
Their duties shall be as follow:
President - shall preside at all meetings of Their Perspective Committee; serve as chairperson of the Executive Committee; issue a call to all meetings of Their Perspective Committee; represent Their Perspective Committee at functions germane to the advancement of SFR, Inc.; has veto powers, perform other functions and duties as may pertain to the office of the President.
Vice President - shall act in the president's absence; can serve as parliamentarian; perform such other duties as may pertain to the office of the Vice President.
Secretary - shall handle administrative duties, such as, organize, set up, and keep records of the proceedings of all Their Perspective Committee business meetings; perform such other duties as may pertain to the Administrative Secretary. Also shall handle correspondence duties, such as, be responsible for preparing thank you notes, sympathy cards, and special recognition; perform such other duties as may pertain to the Correspondence Secretary.
Assistant Secretary - shall act in the Secretary's absence; assist in all matters pertaining to the Secretary under the auspices of the Secretary; perform such other duties as may pertain to the office of the Assistant Secretary.
Treasurer - shall collect and document all membership dues; record all financial expenditures; perform such other duties as may pertain to the office of the Treasurer, including providing periodic financial reports to the members; all transactions and documents are to be provided to the President for review and approval.
Assistant Treasurer - shall act in the Treasurer's absence; assist in all matters pertaining to the Treasurer under the auspices of the Treasurer; perform such other duties as may pertain to the office of the Assistant Treasurer.
Senior Advisor - shall advise The Executive Committee on decisions germane to the advancement of Their Perspective Committee; shall advise Their Perspective Committee of any issues germane to Their Perspective Committee, Stevens Family Reunion, Inc., or otherwise; perform such other duties as may pertain to the office of the Senior Advisor.
Youth President - shall represent all youth members and their concerns at all meetings of Their Perspective Committee and/or Stevens Family Reunions; the youth members of Their Perspective Committee shall be no older than twenty-one (21) years old; shall have full voting rights, at all Their Perspective Committee meetings, that requires a vote; perform other functions and duties as may pertain to the office of the Youth President.
Historian/Genealogist - shall research, document, and maintain the history and genealogy of the Stevens family, from its earliest origins to present generations.
Editor - shall publish the Their Perspective Committee’s newsletters, The Stevens Quarterly and update SFR’s website. Also, works with Historian/Genealogist to publish family tree on website.
Spiritual Advisor - shall provide spiritual guidance and lead Their Perspective Committee on saying prayers. Also, shall represent Their Perspective Committee regarding /spiritual/divine services; perform such other duties as may pertain to the office of the Spiritual Advisor. The President shall appoint the Spiritual Advisor.
*The President shall appoint the Parliamentarian and Assistant Parliamentarian.
ARTICLE V -ELECTION OF OFFICERS 
Election of Officers - shall be held every four (4) years, or otherwise, at the business meetings of Their Perspective Committee, during the biennial family reunion. Any vacancies during the interim between business meetings shall be filled by appointment by the President.
Interim Officers - are those officers elected, appointed, or otherwise assumed office during the business meeting held at the family reunion. These officers shall serve and administer the affairs of Their Perspective Committee until their terms expire and installation of newly elected officers occurs at the next planned elections of Their Perspective Committee.
1) Candidates for any of the above stated offices shall be good standing members of Their Perspective Committee, and must have attained an age of eighteen (18) years old. Any exceptions must be presented to and approved by the Executive Committee during regular business meetings.
2) Services provided as officers of Their Perspective Committee or as members of sub-committees of Their Perspective Committee shall be gratuitous.
Term of Office � A term is defined as four fiscal years (September 1- August 31). An officer may be elected for an infinite consecutive terms.
ARTICLE VI - STANDING COMMITTEES 
*The President of Their Perspective Committee reserves the right to appoint committee chairpersons.
  1. Executive Committee - shall consist of Their Perspective Committee officers; shall administer the business affairs of Their Perspective Committee. It shall have power in the interval between general meetings of Their Perspective Committee to act on all administrative matters on behalf of Their Perspective Committee. 
  2. Education Committee - shall establish and administer a not-for-profit Education Foundation for the purpose of providing financial assistance to Stevens Family Reunion members who strive for excellence through educational achievements and economic advancements.
    1. The Education Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the Stevens Foundation) shall consist of a committee and a Board of Trustees. Details of the Education Foundation shall be prepared by the Education Committee with the advice and consent of the Executive Committee.
    2. Specific details of the activities of this committee will be addressed in documents prepared by officers of the committee -- under the supervision and approval of the Executive Committee. All financial affairs shall be managed by the Treasurer -- with the advice and consent of the President. 
  3. Membership Committee - shall be responsible for developing, implementing and administering a membership plan. The plan shall address membership requirements and benefits in detail, and will be implemented with the advice and consent of the Executive Committee.
ARTICLE VII - AD HOC COMMITTEES 
*The President of Their Perspective Committee reserves the right to appoint committee chairpersons.
The Reunion Committee shall be responsible for planning, coordinating and administering Their Perspective Committee’s hosting of the family reunion. The specific details of the ad hoc activities of this committee will be addressed in documents prepared by the committee -- under the supervision and approval of the Executive Committee and the President. All financial affairs shall be managed by the Treasurer.
  1. The Reunion Committee shall be responsible for planning, coordinating and administering the Biennial Family Reunion. Details of specific activities of this committee will be addressed in documents prepared by the Executive Committee. All financial affairs of this committee shall be administered by the Treasurer.
  2. Election Committee - shall be responsible for collecting a panel of candidates and conducting the election of new officers; dismissal of incumbent officers; and installation of newly elected officers. The committee shall consist of a Chairperson and such other members as may be determined by the Executive Committee from time to time.
  3. By-Laws Committee - shall be responsible for establishing, chartering and implementing the structure by which Their Perspective Committee shall function. The committee shall consist of the President as the Chairperson and other member of Their Perspective Committee as may be determined by the Executive Committee from time to time. *The Parliamentarian should be the chairperson of the By-Laws Committee.
ARTICLE VIII - HISTORIAN/GENEALOGIST 
The Family Historian/Genealogist shall administer continuing research and publish research papers documenting the history of the Stevens and extended family, from its earliest origins in Africa and elsewhere, through migrations to the New World, to present generations.
ARTICLE IX – NEWSLETTER, WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA
Their Perspective Committee Newsletter (hereinafter referred to as the Stevens Family Newsletter) shall be the official publication of SFR, Inc., will be used to disseminate information to the Stevens Family Reunion members, and serve as a medium for publication of research on the Stevens and extended family. The staff of the Newsletter shall consist of an Editor and such other Contributing Editors as necessary from time to time. The Editor shall be elected by the general membership of Their Perspective Committee every four years at Their Perspective Committee business meeting.
The “*.com “ website shall be an online method to disseminate information to the Stevens Family Reunion members, and serve as a medium for publication of research on the Stevens and extended family. It shall, also, publish all Stevens Family Reunion events and Stevens Family Reunion members’ activities, and any other Stevens Family Reunion financial and non-financial matters not mentioned, where applicable.
Social Media outlets may be established by the Editor under the auspices of the Executive Committee.  It is an alternate online method for disseminating information to the Stevens Family Inc.’s members and others. Any member of Their Perspective Committees can present their disapproval of any of Their Perspective Committee’s social media representation. The disapproval will be resolved by voting on the concern. The President has the right to veto the vote’s results to overturn any decision made by the vote.
ARTICLE X – COMMITTEE DUES 
Payments of annual dues are required for membership in Their Perspective Committee. All family members who vote on any of Their Perspective Committee concerns, will be covered under the Household Membership. Dues can be paid on an annual basis or at each of Their Perspective Committee Meeting utilizing a fiscal year (September 1- August 31) for The Perspective Committee.
1) Dues for Household Membership in Their Perspective Committee shall be $60.00 annually per voting member (due August 31 for the upcoming fiscal year). These funds will be used to prepare and publish all of the Editor’s means of disseminating Their Perspective Committee’s information that the editor is responsible for. Also, these funds will be used for any other expenses related to the administration of Their Perspective Committee.
2) Members who are a resident in a covered household who wish to attain Individual Membership and voting rights may do so by paying annual dues of $60.00 (due August 31 for the upcoming fiscal year). Individual members are entitled to all publications and distributions received by Household Membership.
3) Members of Their Perspective Committee who aspire to hold a position as Their Perspective Committee officer or chairperson of a committee must be a member in good financial standing and participate in Their Perspective Committee fundraisers, meetings and other activities.
4) Funding for family reunions shall be addressed in detail by separate document prepared and administered by the Executive Committee.
5) Funding for educational scholarships shall be raised by the Education Committee and administered by the Education Committee, under the overall supervision and direction of the Board of Trustees and The Executive Committee.
6) Failure to maintain current dues will result in the loss of voting rights and office candidacies in Their Perspective Committee.
ARTICLE XI - FINANCE 
The finances of Their Perspective Committee shall be accounted for under a budget system.
1) No officer, committee, committee member or member of Their Perspective Committee shall receive any funds or incur any expense Their Perspective Committee did not provide for in these By-Laws unless authorized in writing by the President, with concurrence of the Vice President; nor shall the Treasurer or other authorized person make any payment except for expenditures which have been so approved by the President.
2) There shall be an annual audit of all accounts by an independent accounting firm. The accounting firm will be selected by a general consensus of the Executive Committee.
3) The Treasurer shall be responsible for developing and distributing financial procedures. The Executive committee shall monitor the adherence to the established financial procedures.
4) The fiscal shall be defined as September 1 � August 31.
ARTICLE XII - FAMILY REUNION 
A reunion of the Stevens family will be held biennially during the month of July. The reunion location will be determined two years in advance at the biennial Stevens Family Reunion, Inc.’s business meeting.
ARTICLE XIII - BUSINESS MEETINGS 
A business meeting shall be held on Saturday morning during the Biennial Reunion, or such time as determined by the Executive Committee at the site of the biennial family reunions. These family business meetings are open to all members of Their Perspective Committee in good standing. All other meetings (committee meetings, social events, etc.) do not constitute business meetings. Final decisions on issues brought to the business meeting shall be passed by a majority of members present at the business meeting.
Majority - Simple majority shall mean greater than fifty percent (i.e., 51% and greater) of those good standing members casting a vote and present at the meeting.
Grand majority shall mean greater than two-thirds (i.e., 67% and greater) of those good standing members casting votes, not necessarily present (i.e. voting by mail).
Quorum - shall mean 2/3 of the active members of the Stevens Family Northern and Southern Committees. The chairperson of the Membership Committee shall be responsible for maintaining an accounting of active memberships of Their Perspective Committee.
During the period between family reunions, members of the Executive Committee (as applicable) and all other interested members of Their Perspective Committee shall meet at a location as agreed upon by the Executive Committee, to discuss and resolve, when possible, issues related to the management, operation and administration of Their Perspective Committee.
ARTICLE XIV - RATIFICATION 
These By-Laws shall become effective at the reunion meeting held July 17-23, 2013 upon affirmative votes by a majority of good standing members of the Northern and Southern Committees. Copies of the initial Bylaws will be presented to the good standing members and ratified upon review.
Upon ratification and effectuation of these By-Laws, Their Perspective Committee will, officially, be organized for family fellowship and continuity.
Revisions and additions to the bylaws are to be submitted to the President, reviewed by the Executive Committee, presented in writing to the good standing members of The Northern and Southern Committees, and voted on by the good standing members at the business meeting of Their Perspective Committee.
ARTICLE XV - AMENDMENTS 
These by-laws may be amended by a Grand Majority vote of members in good standing. Members in good standing, means members whose dues are current and participates in Their Perspective Committee fundraisers, meetings and other activities. The chairperson of the Membership Committee, in conjunction with Their Perspective Committee Treasurer, shall be responsible for maintaining an accounting of active membership in Their Perspective Committee.
Travel expenses associated with attending these meetings will be borne by individual members attending the meeting. Funds for incidental expenses associated with these meetings (i.e., mailings, phone calls, meeting facilities, food for meetings, etc.) shall be provided by the Treasurer, or as determined by the Executive Committee.
ARTICLE XVI - DISCLAIMER 
Their Perspective Committee disclaims responsibility for the actions and personal opinions of individual members who are in violation of Their Perspective Committee's policies and procedures.
We, Committee Members and Their Perspective Committee Members of the Stevens Family Reunion, Inc. do hereby subscribe to these articles, and in accordance with the wishes and desires of the full membership of family reunion, and by our signatures, establish the Stevens Family Reunion, Inc.
